Program Information

Systems Security is a concentration under the Information Technology program.

This curriculum provides individuals with the skills required to analyze and implement effective and comprehensive information security controls.

Graduates should qualify for employment in entry-level positions with businesses, educational systems, and governmental agencies that rely on computer systems to design and manage information.

The program incorporates the competencies of industry-recognized certification exams.

Faculty Information

Department Chair Information Technology

Nathan Mckee has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems degree from the University of Mount Olive. He also holds a Master of Science in Information Technology Management degree from Trident University. He is the coach for the SCC Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition Team. Nathan has several industry certifications including: Cisco Certified Network Associate, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Palo Alto ACE 8.1 and PCEC.

Full-Time Faculty

Rick Tyree - Rick has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications degree from UNC Pembroke and a Master of Arts in IT Management degree from Webster University. He has been an IT Instructor for 6 years, teaching subjects including Cyber Security, Linux, Windows 10, Server, hardware/software support, Virtualization, and Mobile Computing. His certifications include Comptia A+, Palo Alto Networks ACE 8.1, and is a Palo Alto Networks Certified Instructor.

Adjunct Faculty

David Ruggles has an Associate in Applied Science in Information Technology. He has several industry certifications including: Cisco Certified Network Associate, Novell CNA, CompTIA A+ and Microsoft MCSE Windows NT 4.0.
