Systems Security is a concentration under the Information Technology program.
This curriculum provides individuals with the skills required to analyze and implement effective and comprehensive information security controls.
Graduates should qualify for employment in entry-level positions with businesses, educational systems, and governmental agencies that rely on computer systems to design and manage information.
The program incorporates the competencies of industry-recognized certification exams.
Rick Tyree has a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications degree from UNC Pembroke and a Master of Arts in IT Management degree from Webster University. He has been an IT Instructor/Trainer for over 15 years, teaching subjects including Cyber Security, Linux, Windows 10, Server, hardware/software support, Virtualization, and Mobile Computing. His certifications include CompTIA A+, Cisco CCST Networking, Cisco CCST Cybersecurity, Palo Alto Networks ACE 8.1, and is a Palo Alto Networks Certified Instructor.
Caroline Chestnutt is an Information Technology Instructor teaching courses in cybersecurity, Windows administration, and programming. She holds an Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology (Network Management) and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity from Regent University. Currently pursuing a Master of Science in Cybersecurity (Cybersecurity Management), Caroline also holds industry certifications, including Cisco CCST Networking, Cisco CCST Cybersecurity, CCST IT Support, and Palo Alto ACE. Outside of teaching, she enjoys maintaining saltwater fish tanks, painting, and visiting the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains.
